When it comes to the eco-friendly test, Bamboo would pass with flying colors. 100% biodegradable, 100% sustainable, and 100% naturally grown without the help of mankind, the bamboo plant is an environmentally-savvy shopper’s dream.

Fibers spun from Bamboo are known all over the world for being incredibly soft as well as luxuriously comfortable. A rug made from Bamboo will give your room a break from other types of rugs that trap odors, bacteria, as well as moisture and will even dry quickly, as well!

Creating Bamboo rugs in our shops does not harm the environment, either. As it is a form of grass, bamboo is not yanked up from the soil – it is cut at the base, which helps us to avoid damaging the Earth. It takes less than a tenth of an acre to produce the same yield that an acre of cotton creates, allowing us to minimize how much of the Earth we use in our processing. It is also among the fastest growing plants in the world, simply because it only requires a small amount of water to thrive.

In short, the bamboo rug is the eco-friendly shopper’s dream. That much can be done in one plant? You better believe it! If you have any questions about Bamboo rugs, or are sold on buying a Bamboo rug for yourself or someone you love, contact Nepal Rugs and Carpets today!

Tibetan rugs are classy forms of rugs that will cost a fortune but can be purchased at great prices at our site. These Tibetan rugs are made either from highland sheep wool from Tibet or made from sheep wool from the Himalayas, which is so much more durable and stain resistant than others due to the rough conditions in the Himalayan Mountains that the sheep live in.

The creation of our rugs is extremely intricate. Depending on the nature of the wool, these rugs from Tibet are classified as 100 knot rugs, 80 knot rugs or 60 knot rugs. Coloring of these Tibetan rugs is also a very elaborate and eco friendly activity and to get a wide range of different colors, the usage of vegetable colors or other dyes that do not disturb the environment are used. Special care is being taken to ensure that while the business needs are met, the ecological system is left undisturbed. In other words, our rugs are totally green – yes, we take great pride in being totally a 100% green company!

When you are buying Tibetan rugs, there are certain points that you may want to note to ensure that you buy the best rugs from Tibet in town. In Tibet, rug weaving is a passion that is practiced by most of the people and this is a good source of income for them. These rugs from Tibet are very popular in the market and sell to elite customers who are very choosy and pick the best of these Tibetan rugs. Tibetan rugs in one’s hall or drawing rooms are a good symbol of financial well being and status and are thus preferred by businessmen and home makers alike. There are a lot of handicrafts showrooms in and around any city where you can find these Tibetan rugs, but when you’re looking to make a purchase, no other place offers the same value and quality as Nepal Rugs and Carpets.

In this business, we tend to use terminology that escapes our clientele. One term, specifically, is “strike off.” It’s an important part of the process, so it is equally important that you understand not only what it is, but what it does for you and why it is there. So, you can thank Nepal Rugs and Carpets for this quick little tidbit on the process of ordering your new rug!

During the process of having your rug created, there’s a point where the design of your new rug is totally finished, and off your design goes to Nepal to be made. Before the full rug is created, you will be sent what is called a “strike off.”

What is a strike off? Simple. A “strike off” is a sample of your particular design. It will display your design (or a portion of your design, depending upon how large), using your chosen fabrics and your specific color choices. In most cases, when designers create custom rugs they will order a strike off to show their clients what they will be receiving, or they will order several strike offs with a few variations in each to give their client a choice of which they may prefer.

So, that is what makes the strike off an important part of the process. When you consider getting a custom rug design for your home, set aside a portion of your budget to accommodate getting samples to help avoid any surprises. And lastly, if you are considering getting a custom rug designed, check us out at Nepal Rugs and Carpets!

We at Nepal Rugs and Carpets do our best to provide our customers with tips to help care for their hemp rugs and ensure that they last for a lifetime. However, there’s always the odd occasion that something should happen, and they need our advice. Not to worry! Here, we’ll discuss how to clean your hemp rug.

First things first. Do you have a large stain or a small one? If your stain is a relatively large one, or you’re in need of an overall rug cleaning, you may want to call a carpet cleaning company that specializes in hemp rugs. We do recognize that isn’t always possible, so here are a few tips to get a small stain out of a hemp rug.

Sometimes, we’re lucky and pouring a little water on the stain will help it to dissipate. Truth be told, just plain water won’t always work. What do we recommend? Try grabbing an empty bucket (be sure to clean out any residue from other cleaning products – this is very important!) and pour in a gallon of warm water with a cup of white vinegar. Get a toothbrush (or, if the stain is larger than a dollar bill, a scrub brush) and a little watered down dishwashing liquid, and scrub out the stain using as little pressure as possible. You may even be able to get away with not using any diswashing liquid at all. Before you know it, the stain begins to fade away, and your hemp rug starts to look the way it did when it first arrived.

After a good scrubbing, rinse the area off with a cup of water to get rid of any leftover dishwashing liquid. Be sure to rinse both sides, that way you know for sure there’s no residue on either side. When you prepare to dry your hemp rug, keep a few things in mind.

First and foremost, it is strongly advised to avoid using steam cleaners, wet-vacs, or any similar cleaning system. The water temperature in them is usually far too hot to ensure your rug’s quality. If your wet-vac model allows you to adjust the temperature, be sure to set it as close to cold as you can.

When drying your hemp rug, use good judgment. Hemp rugs are organic products that have been naturally dyed, and placing them in the sun will cause them to fade. Conversely, placing an organic product in a dark, warm, or moist area will cause bacteria to grow… thus causing a moldy smell. Find a location that is bright, dry, and warm enough to dry your rug without baking it. If you live in a climate that allows you to hang-dry clothing outside, then it may be the perfect place to dry off your hemp rug.

Even with painstaking detail to the method you use in cleaning your hemp rug, you can experience a teeny bit of fading. You simply have to be careful of the amount of pressure you use when you scrub.

As tempting as it may be to stick your hemp rug in the washing machine and/or dryer, don’t. You’ll ruin it.

If these instructions are somewhat intimidating, don’t feel bad. You purchased your hemp rug because you appreciate the quality and eco-friendliness, right? Nothing wrong with wanting to preserve that. If you are worried about damaging your rug, there is no shame in leaving it to the pros.

Now, if your hemp rug is much larger? Take it outside and hose it down! Hang it somewhere secure, and hose that bad boy down. A moderate amount of pressure (perhaps sticking your finger in the way of the water spout of your hose) can do just the trick in these cases.

If your rug dries in a fashion that results in the corners of your rug curling, here’s a quick little tip to fix it. Douse the corners of the rug in warm to cold water, and flip it over. Flatten out the corners the right way, and lay something heavy on top of them (anything from old textbooks to bricks will do the trick.) Keeping in mind the rules of drying your hemp rug, allow this setup to dry in a bright place free of moisture. You may remove the weights after a while, and allow your help rug to dry all the way. Should be good as new!

We at Nepal Rugs and Carpets hope these tips have been helpful to you in preserving your hemp rug. If you have any questions about your purchase, or questions about purchasing and caring for a hemp rug, don’t be afraid to contact us!

For those who are seeking out eco-friendly decorations for their home, the banana fiber rug is quite an exceptional option. Little did we know that the same plant that produces the low hanging fruit would be a source of strong fibers used in everything from clothing to, yes, rugs. Since bananas are grown for food and exported all over the world, using them for fiber in consumer products is an extremely effective manner of recycling the excess.

The Nepalese will harvest the trunk of a banana plant and put it through a rigorous process of softening, bleaching, and drying. The final product, with it’s strong cotton foundation, can be dyed to match anyone’s desired color specifications and are treated very carefully throughout the process. These preparations will result in a fiber so luxurious, the quality rivals silk. Eco-friendly AND luxurious. Who would’ve thought?

If that isn’t enough to excite the average eco-friendly shopper, banana rugs are extremely reliable. Banana fiber rugs are woven using traditional Nepalese methodology. Skilled weavers treat these fabrics with careful hands and hand-knot these fibers in a fashion that ends up creating a radiantly stunning yet sturdy rug. If they are maintained carefully by their owner – meaning, minor shoe traffic and no dragging furniture – they can last a lifetime.

If you’re convinced that banana rugs are for you, check out what we at Nepal Rugs and Carpets have to offer. We can customize banana fiber rugs any way you like from color to size and style, and ship it to your front door! Visit us today!

It happens to the best of us. After the brilliant idea to host a fabulous party, serving nothing but the best red wine… someone’s bound to spill a bit of it (or a glass of it) on our favorite rug. It’s okay. Nepal Rugs and Carpets has the answer to your problem.

Now, if you’ve waited until the stain has dried, this won’t work for you. We have a few solutions for those of you who may have waited too late, but those will come later.

If your red wine stain is still wet, try… white wine! Yes, in fact – the cheapest white wine you can find. Pour about a quarter of the bottle on top of the red wine stain, and completely cover it. Find a white cotton cloth, and use it to sop up the excess liquid. Don’t rub it, or you’ll run the risk of spreading the stain. Simply apply pressure to the stain, attempting to sponge away the wetness. If your towel gets too wet, wring it out and repeat the process until your red wine stain has disappeared.

If the stain has dried, you can try the same process with seltzer or soda water, or you can seek out the carpet cleaning solutions that specify that they’re made for red wine stains. Some will say that you can try a 60% hydrogen peroxide and 40% dishwashing soap combo, but while this may work perfectly for laundered items, you’ll need to exercise caution using this method on your rug. If you don’t follow the instructions very carefully, you could make a bad situation worse.

These methods, when followed carefully, are virtually foolproof. But as always, if you need help, Nepal Rugs and Carpets can always recommend an excellent rug or carpet cleaning service in your area. Lastly, a polite disclaimer – we’re not responsible for any damage you do to your items from following our instructions. If you’re very concerned, it’s always best to leave it to the professionals.

If you’re reading this because you’ve chosen to purchase a Tibetan rug but aren’t quite sure how to go about the process, then you’ve come to the right place. In Tibet, rug and carpet making is an ancient art — a fine craft that has been passed down from Tibetan generation to Tibetan generation. To put it bluntly, you’ve made an excellent choice. With every aspect of these rugs made by hand, you are sure to own a unique and carefully crafted creation.

To start off the process, you’ll first need to determine how much you’re willing to spend on your new rug. Are you working out of a budget that is set aside for designing an entire room? Are you simply wanting a new addition to your living room floor? Set aside a dollar amount for your new Tibetan rug. Keep in mind what that dollar value will get you, as well. For example, at Nepal Rugs and Carpets, our Tibetan rugs can run anywhere from $100 and up. Remember that many different variables go into pricing for a Tibetan rug, so not only will pricing vary between those who sell these fine rugs but price may also vary depending upon the different variations. Getting a quote for a wool rug and then changing your mind and asking about a silk rug can yield very different prices.

Next, you need to think about the look you want. Now that you know just how much you are prepared to spend, think about what that dollar amount can do for you. Considering purchasing a 6-foot by 9-foot rug to go under your bed? Just want a beautiful burgundy and tan rug to go near your front door? Maybe looking for something classy to put beneath your dining room table? Factor in the length and width of your dream rug, as well as the colors. Consider what kind of fabric you’d like to use. At Nepal Rugs and Carpets, we offer fabrics like wool, silk, help, banana, cactus, linen, or anything that you’d desire. If you’re not familiar with those, take a trip to a fabric store and take a look around. They’ll have plenty of sample fabrics for you to take a look at.

Lastly, take a look around. Many Tibetan rug sellers will tell you that they can create any pattern you hand them, and they can. This flexibility allows you to take a look at rug designs and patterns online and find one that you love. With us here at Nepal Rugs and Carpets our customers show us the pattern they’d like to have, give us the size dimensions as well as the desired colors, and we give them a price. Many other companies will operate the same way (although, we’re the only ones you’ll really need!)

Hopefully, you’ve found this process to be a simple one, because it is! And remember, if you need a Tibetan rug, give Nepal Rugs and Carpets a try!
